Hmmm is that ice or sand in the far distance a shoreline or not? Most likely ice so I’ll go with somewhere along the Beaufort Sea most likely….
I hope you don’t mind that I didn’t click to see the larger version. 🙂
When you say click for a larger version, do you mean larger photo, or larger butt in the air! I’m afraid to click to find out. 🙂

And the answer is …. #1. The Beaufort Sea.
That’s right, that glassy water is the arctic ocean, the sea ice wall is off-shore a 1/4 mile or so. This was from a trip up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge a few years back. The only time I’ve seen the arctic ocean so totally smooth -not a ripple on it when we first arrived. Soon after a dip and a few photos, the wind whipped up and it began to look more like the arctic ocean one expects to see – cold, and wind-whipped.
For the record, that butt is not mine. I was just the photographer.

Actually, perhaps quite a symbolic image Carl. It won’t be long before it is warm enough up there in the summer for some beachfront property to be developed. 🙂
